Partystar Review
A popular relaxed and unpretentious affair, the Edinburgh Castle does bands on a dedicated stage as well as a largeish beer garden. A large range of counteries are on offer and expect to see beer being served by the jug as well as by the craft beer.
Bonus marks for providing parking.
Outdoor Area / Beer Garden
The large beer garden has several areas with unique styles, some covered and some not.
Live Music Venue
Music at least 5 days a week.

Second Opinion
It's Brunswick's longest standing pub but it has more than history behind it, and also offers gastro pub bites and good craft beers. The decor is modern classic, nicely done.

Great spot to be with your mates for an afternoon-evening gig... unlike other pubs, you have different options if you feel like going for a cigarette or cigar in the backyard...and when you go there u don't wanna leave any more... if weather is kicking you might stay there until it closes ..time passes in a blink of an eye.. sweet spot, live music always rocks..good quality stuff... well, at least the experience I had there so far has been good and would recommend showing up there around 3-4pm any day, but my favourite day is Sunday... what else could u do in a boring Sunday arvo??? get your bum over there for some laugh..get your mates and you will have a ball.

Was delighted to find this Little Gem of a Local watering hole in an area a bit light on for decent pub food the; Edinburgh Castle delivers. This is not your high end gastropub but will not disappoint the fussier amongst us for a great cheap and cheerful. Generous sized Calamari salad is perfectly fried & served over a fresh rocket salad, Roo burger is a winner with tender pieces of roo fillet in fresh Turkish bread roll and side salad, a range of vego options plus the great Aussie pub staples of parma, steak sanga and chips but served with good fresh ingredients; no kraft mayo and frozen Kalamari with a "K" here! Staff are cheerful and friendly and drinks well priced. No really high end wine list but a Yering Station Chardy is enough to keep me quiet for the evening - love it!!

The moment you step into the Castle on a cold Melbourne winter night the atmospere is so friendly and warm it feels as if you are throwing a house party for long lost friends. If you are lucky enough to call the Castle your local you may also be lucky enough to have your drink waiting for you by the time you reach the bar. The Castle consists of three main sections which spread this magnificent pub over approximately 500 sq mts. The front bar has a warm, relaxed vibe whic is generated from either the great local live music or one of the many compilation cd's the bar staff love to play. The second section is the dining room which has a similar vibe to the front bar. The food is better than average for a price which is the same. Monday and Tuesday nights are favourites for locals so be prepared to eat in the front bar if you get there smack seven. Alternatively there is a second dining room where diner can be served. Ask the bar staff for directions. The third section is the beer garden which consists of a covered area featuring a t.v and table tennis room. Bats and balls are provided. The beer garden is spacious and private at the same time. Unlike other pubs on Brunswick street this beer garden actually gets the sun in the afternoon so it's te perfect place to spend on a Sunday afternoon in spring, summer or autum. Although the three sections have their similarities they are all unique in their own way. This pub caters for all moods and occaisions making it by far one of the best pubs in Melbourne. To sum the Castle up it one phrase would be easy - 'impossible not to like'.
