Partystar Review
Showcasing a vast assortment of Japanese beers & sake, the Robot is a venue with more than a little pizzazz. (Have no fear the average punter is also catered for with the usual spirits and beer etc.) This funky little hideaway sits nestled at the end of an alley off of a lane, in Melbourne's CBD.
Framed celluloids from a Manga-esque cartoon strip & other contemporary art adorns the walls. The decor displaying an obvious Japanese flavour. It was suggested that perhaps Robot had spent sometime as someone's inner-city dwelling and... there is a definite warehouse apartment feel to this funky venue (perhaps it's the open-space plan?). Whatever, it works and the social dynamic was bubbling.
The bar is downstairs & the movement up & down the staircase provided ample opportunity for meeting new people. For a drink with friends... who like to be where it's at, look no further.
Outdoor Area / Beer Garden
Chairs and tables get moved into the alley during the warmer months for a really nice feel.

Second Opinion
Pretty happening, and the Japanese bar staff are a great touch. A noticeboard is useful for exchanges of language lessons. Worth a visit to try something different, especially as you can get more than just the usual Asahi beer here.
