People getting jugs in at a pub is always a great sight. The Palace Hotel keeps the beer flowing well, with its long bar and friendly staff. The clientele is mostly young, however older people wouldn't feel out of place as much as they might at the Hawthorn up the road.
Bands feature some nights, and the layout is one big room with the bar spanning one complete side.

Second Opinion
This local icon is a behemoth of a venue with all the trimmings - TAB, food, live music, trivia, DJs and dancing.
Come for the food and ales, stay for the party vibes.

Readers' Reviews
The Palace Hotel Camberwell is the ultimate in entertainment for any age group. It has a 'lounge' bar, consisting of a long bar down one side of the room which could easily fit 250 people. A nice cafe serving real meals, WITH food service (no taking a number and waiting for your number to be called out). And a nightclub/function room/s depending on the night.
The Lounge bar consists of one long bar spanning the whole length of the wall. Serving a wide range of beverages including $3 drink deals ALL day EVERY day. Subject to change every month, at the time of publication (20/09/04), they were serving $3 schooners of VB, Carlton Draught and Cascade Premium Light. $3 Johnnie Walker and Coke, or dry ginger ale, depending on your taste. $3 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay and Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon. Live entertainment is held 5 nights a week. Tuesday thru to Thursday night the entertainment is more laid back with accoustic solos or duets. Friday night is now Retro night with a band playing groovy retro music, and a DJ spinning some retro tunes in the band's breaks.
Saturday night see more DJs playing a wide range of classic pub and current top 100 style music.
There are 3 pool tables, and costing an extremely reasonable $2 a game, it wont take long to get a game at any of these tables.
If you're not the type to stand at the bar, or on the dance floor, there are plenty of tables and couches around to relax on. If you feel peckish, there are snacks available from 11am till 9pm. The snacks range from a bowl of chips or wedges to small pizzas or a chicken and avacado foccacia.
The cafe is located in the Lounge bar. It is open Tuesday to Friday, lunch and dinner, and Saturday for dinner only. Tuesday to Thursday the cafe offers fantastic $10 specials. Tuesday is $10 Pasta & Pint (VB, Carlton Draught, Cascade Premium Light or soft drink). Wednesday is $10 Fish 'n Chips & Pint. Thursday is $10 Chicken Parma & Pint (Thursday night is by far the busiest in the cafe, and if you would like a table for you and a few friends, I suggest you book a couple of days in advance, as it gets very crowded). The Palace has been entered onto the SupaParma website www.superparma.com.
The nightclub is also used as function rooms. The rooms are great for any type of function, from a sit down dinner, to a 21st. For parties, it has everything a party needs, fridges with plenty of booze, and a pumping sound system. Believe me, I have attended a few 'functions' here, and they are always a good night (if I can remember what happened).

It has a great vibe, and is a great place for drink after work or a big night out, and people are friendly. The crowd is young, attractive and good to look at and as people are friendly it's not hard to start up conversation with strangers.
It's well worth a visit, and the bar staff are awesome and friendly and they make the you feel like you should be there; highly recommended this place, as it goes off.
Great place to party hard.
