Partystar Review
One of the first questions you may ask yourself when coming across this pub is, why the name? Well, there's a huge painting of an actual Maori Chief above the entrance to this fabulous pub. But don't stop there. Go inside, because you will find a pub that is unpretentious, cosy and great fun. There is an inviting back room where you can chill out on grandma's old couch (yes, with the crochet rugs included) and sit by the open fire with your pint. You can also grab a delicious meal (vegetarians are catered for) at a thoroughly affordable price. There's also a front bar with a pool table, TV and a few bar stools so you can pass the time chatting with the locals or friendly bar staff.
The Maori Chief gets packed with locals, students and professionals. Friday and Saturday nights are very popular for dinner and it is recommended you book a few days ahead also. You can book the entire back room out if you are having a large celebration (it seats up to approx 30 people).
Once you've been to the Maori you'll go back, it's guaranteed. If you like your pubs with a laid back, yet cool atmosphere, then this is the place for you.

Second Opinion
Well, Kiwis, this is your place. Waitangi Day should be celebrated at no other pub.
