For more than 150 years this establishment, once an old pub, has served this end of town where RMIT, Melbourne Uni, the Vic Market and various communities of city workers intersect even if only via a fleeting glance, a shared minute at the bar or a brush past each other on the way to the loos.
The beautiful bluestone building holds up well and is great as Captain Melville. Meals, trivia, lots to drink and dancing later bring her to life night after night.
