The owner of this subtly decorated trendy bar, has created a place here that is both vibrant and relaxed in the most interesting way. An undertone of grey surroundings is brought to life by three of four massive ever evolving flower pots in the heart of this split level drinking palace! The consummate host of this establishment told me that it has been a labour of love, and indulgence; and this venue is perfect for either or both. Whether you're looking for a fancy place to take someone special for one or three of their renowned martinis, or a quiet one after a spot of theatre then you 'can't go past' the Gin Palace; but as it 'is' tucked away snugly behind the haste of Russell street, the less discerning may well.

Finally a dedicated place for the slightly older sophisticates. Plenty of swish cocktail and wine bars have come and gone, but Gin Palace was one of Melbourne's forerunners and is definitely a stayer. Enjoy a cocktail and feel special in this den of baroque luxury.
