What you have here at the Elwood Lounge is an inviting, atmospheric and cosy bar. The style is pure lounge, art deco and retro all mixed together to provide a perfect place to meet with friends for a meal or a drink out of the city. It attracts a mature crowd and on Saturday nights it gets pretty busy. So, if you find yourself in the locality, pop in as you'll be impressed (the relaxed and friendly bar staff are a bonus too). Additionally, it's not often that you can find fresh, varied and delicious meals with change from $20 but here you will (vegetarians catered for).

I love the Elwood Lounge, i'll just come out and say that now.

Great little place that has enough quirkyness to set it apart from some of the more vanilla bars in this part of the world. No piece of furniture is the same, some tables are wonky and on busy nights it gets uncomfortably cramped. Yet we all keep going back.

The funky Elwood crowd rolls in for the cheap food and drink specials, but there is more to it than that, the staff are slightly eccentric but efficient, there is free wifi, the open mic night on wednesdays is fantastic and there is a small courtyard out that back that is great for having a drink in during summer.

All in all a great little bar that is a must visit if you're in the area and worth the trip up the road if you're a bit over the St.Kilda scene.

Very chilled and relaxed. Been here a few times now. Some good live music. Worth checking out if you're looking for somewhere less pretentious to hang out.

I'm now a local to the area - and this is now my local. The funny thing is you only ever see the same person occasionally (except the groovy bar staff of course). Everyone's there to be happy and relaxed - eat some good food (and large helpings!) and play a bit of pool, or old-style pacman and galaga!
