Long before Manly became a hotspot for beachside living, in 1859 a hotel was built right on the beachfront. Of course there was no sea wall back then and the swell was known to bust in and wash out the drinkers. Steyne also fell victim to a couple of fires but its current building was set down in the early 1900s and still stands proud.

It is home to both the Glasshouse and Henry's Rooftop, both of which have fresh food and cocktails and breathtaking views. The rooftop hosts regular live music, and there are other events, specials and function offerings throughout the venue. Actually the Steyne has two eateries and six bars in total, and accomodation as the cherry on top.
