Partystar Review

Take in the breathtaking panoramic views from 15 floors above, in this decadent cocktail and cigar lounge. The art deco fitout is plush and opulent, and the huge L-shaped balcony overlooking the CBD is a must-see.

Outdoor Area / Beer Garden

The huge wraparound balcony is a feature.

Looking for a night out to suit all genres of your friends? Well, Blue Diamond is definitely a good place to start! When i visited on Saturday 16/5 the place was quite busy with a diverse range of people. Dressy types, and those casually dressed in jeans, jackets and sneakers all blended into the mix, with age playing no deciding factor to those manning the door. Although the drinks are pricey and the cover charge $10, the view is spectacular - the city lights of Melbourne proving better than any lighting ensemble created! The bar staff (not to mention door staff) are friendly and knowledgeable, surprising me as i was somewhat prepared for an upmarket place, with lax service and difficult entry. The entry on Queens St itself is pretty bland - blink and you will walk right past it! (Just don't keep walking up to CQ!) The double doors are open, with red carpet taking you up to the elevators which transcend you to the 15th floor. Although the band playing funk music was good for people wanting a cruisey night of lounging around and enjoying each others' company, I can't help but think this venue would thrive by offering a broader range of music, allowing more people to hit the dance floor. Nevertheless, as a Saturday night catch up venue, I would highly recommend Blue Diamond. I am not sure how different it is on a Friday night, but it certainly caters for a diverse mix of age and type!

The interior is spectacular, reminiscent of Chloes Bar but even classier, wooden everything, leather armchairs, beautifully wallpapered rooms.

However, all this pales in comparison to the live band (no, not a rock cover band) playing jazz and abit of latin music by the dance floor. Yes, dance floor.

This and smoking area / balcony curving around two (three?) of the sides of the building makes for a very, very good venue. Careful how you're dressed, expect to pay abit for drinks, but you couldnt be disappointed. Pay attention for non members nights, its apparently very exclusive.
