NGM gets its name from the gold rush in Melbourne in the 1850s, when Chinese fossickers called Victoria New Gold Mountain, after America's Gold Mountain moniker.
This one has no gold to find but it's pretty great. It is part speakeasy, part opium den, part deluxe lounge room. Open 7 nights per week, most nights will find customers tucked away in one of the secluded alcoves. Background music ranges from Cotton Club era swing jazz to Nouvelle Vague-Joy Division revisions.

Readers' Reviews
Great cocktail bar on first level amazing design. Blue wallpaper and great cocktail listing. Head upstairs to a red level with table service and intimate tables. Be warned: small and intimate space. Open late on weekends. Qurky and cool staff play relaxed tunes in this truly unique space.
