Partystar Review
Ding Dong is dark, black walled as far as the eye can see, and goes off to rock music which pulls in the masses no end. One of the owners, Bill Walsh, wanted a bar different to the many electronic lounge bars in Melbourne - a bar where people can get drunk and get laid. Consider that achieved.
Huge with the alternative and indie crowd, Ding Dong has large open spaces where you can just be yourself, and let your hair down. It's great to have another good band venue in the city, we say.
Those that like Ding Dong will enjoy Cherry or Hi-Fi.
Live Music Venue
Rock music provided by a DJ, with live bands also appearing on a special stage.

Second Opinion
Backed by Bill Walsh of Cherry Bar fame, this place prides itself on its old school rock 'n roll theme. Ding Dong's ban on electronica leaves the likes of The Ramones, T-Rex and AC/DC pumping through the sound system. Perhaps due to the vintage of some of the music, it's ok to be over 35 in here. Long padded booths line the wall and touches like beer taps shaped like guitar necks are not as tacky as they may sound. A refreshing find in a sea of too-cool bars!
