The Stamford Inn is a sprawling suburban pub on the corner of Stud and Wellington roads that's been in Rowville since the old VFL Park in the 80s, where you'd see Hawthorn fans piling in for post-game beers.
When we visited on a weeknight, the bistro was busy with families with families with kids (and most of those kids were in the play area). You couldn't argue with the size of the meals either, we saw huge schnitzels that hung over the plate edges.
The sports bar was packed with locals catching the midweek AFL replay on multiple screens. Apparently the locals still reminisce about stopping here after Hawthorn games back when VFL Park was the Hawks' home ground.
There's quite a few function rooms as well, so it's pretty good for all sorts of parties. They do events, too, check the website for what's on.
Location wise, the venue is about 30 minutes from both the Dandenong Ranges and the city, making it a strategic stop for those heading home.
