In an area of Melbourne filled with grand old buildings, Auburn Hotel follows suit with its well renovated spacious rooms and lofty ceilings.

Its large central bar offers a variety of local and imported beers and stretches through from the front bar to the back room where bands play. There is a large beer garden, a downstairs dining area, an upstairs restaurant and another separate front bar that features a big screen TV. Clientele (largely Hawthornians and students of nearby Swinburne college) and atmosphere are well presented and aesthetically pleasing.

Sunday afternoon's early start-early finish extravaganza of drinking and dancing has become an institution, and is a good option for those who have to wake up sober(ish) for work on Monday. A friendly vibe prevails. Saturday night is more glam, so leave the sneakers at home for that one.
