Partystar Review

Fairly much the closest pub to Footscray station in the area, the Footscray Hotel is such a simple looking building you could wonder if it was actually still a running pub. Closing early, it has a loyal following and simply layout.

great place to kick back. beer out of taps taste great. the locals seem like one big happy family. i was made to feel very welcome. top beer garden out back ideal in any weather conditions. got a video jukebox, pool tables, cheap drinks. i've taken friends there and all have had a ball. no pokies or TAB which makes it feel like a real pub from the old days. the bar staff are friendly to all. check it out if you are in the area.

I've had great times here - people are friendly, the drinks are cheap.

But I'm not sure about 'country style pub' - there's a really loud video jukebox, it's quite dark, and it's a very outgoing crowd - so perfect if you're after a raucous night. Not really a 'quiet beer' kind of place.

Located on Hopkins street down beside the railway line is The Footscray Hotel. This plain, dark grey, two story building stands out due to its bright sky blue window and door frames. This relatively small pub has a few seats out the front under a large tree, and a small courtyard type beer garden out the back. Inside is a nice little wood panelled bar which is cluttered with items that have accumulated over the years (boxing gloves, trophies, footy posters). It definitely have that "old pub charm" that is becoming harder and harder to find. The bistro menu has your standard pub favourites (parma, steaks etc.). All in all it's a great little pub.

Reminds me of the laid back country pubs i frequented before coming to Melbourne. Great friendly atmosphere with bar staff to match and locals always up for a chat and a game of pool. Well priced drinks and a small but adequate "pub grub" menu. Couple of video games, lucky numbers, jukebox and a great beer garden with BBQ all combine to make the Footscray Hotel one of my favourites. Only complaint would be the lack of parking. Highly recommend.
