Ginger's Vintage Lounge Bar sits on Goodwood Road, five minutes from Adelaide's CBD. It's a cafe by day with a retro feel: vintage furniture, local artwork covering the walls (most of it for sale), and a vibe regulars describe as chilled rather than try-hard.

Open seven days for breakfast and lunch, the kitchen cooks up burgers, pasta, and other brunch faves. It's a full bar as well, which is neat, so the the drinks list include craft cocktails. You'll appreciate that once the room shifts from daytime cafe to evening venue.

Evenings, Ginger's runs a live music calendar: jazz quartets, Beatles and Sting tribute acts, acoustic duos. Much more than the occasional Friday gig.

The space itself leans naturally toward functions. Birthdays, corporate lunches, boardroom meetings, Christmas parties. They've got a dedicated team that works with organisers to tailor the room and the menu to the occasion.

For catering beyond the venue itself, Ginger's runs Prep'd Plates as a separate arm, handling off-site delivery and larger events the main kitchen isn't set up for.
There's a community side, too. Free venue use for fundraising events tied to illness, accidents, or hardship, with proceeds going straight to the cause.

We find that most retro-themed venues lean on the aesthetic, and the rest is an afterthought. However, Ginger's is the real deal, as the live music calendar and the functions team behind it are why people who've been once tend to come back.
