This literal powerhouse of culture and entertainment makes the most of its iconic pre-war industrial building and its central location on the Brisbane River. The building has been a tramway electricity hub, homeless shelter, military target practice site, backdrop for film-makers, home for squatters and artists; and general site of neglect.

Now it lives up to its name again as a hotbed of entertainment talent including comedy, theatre and music. It also houses places to eat and drink pre or post show, or just cos.
